My friend made this documentary about Tokyo and it's people and how they feel about and deal with the 311 happenings, recently when Pharrell was in town.
Many of my friends are in this and it shows a Tokyo that's now just in front of my door, so to me it is so real, and it makes me proud to be surrounded by so many incredible people.

Both pictures were taken by my friend Nik. We went on a journey a couple of weeks ago. Found a lot of Ramson on our way and made delicious soups and cremes out of it. After eating everything Ramson-style for at least a week we now have to find other herbs in woods.

Los Angeles ist eine Stadt voller Hotspots und begehrter Touristenattraktionen. Die wirklich interessanten Schätze gehen dabei oft unter. Die US-Schauspielerin Odette Annable hat sich für uns ein Paar Palladium Stiefel angezogen und auf die Suche nach genau diesen "Vergessenen Orten" gemacht.

Im Rahmen des Film- und Foto-Projekts "Exploration" dokumentiert das VBS.TV Filmteam für Palladium ihre Erkundung. Odette, die in Los Angeles aufwuchs und eine Hollywood-Karriere startete, führt das Team an die ungewöhnlichsten Orte der Metropole. Gemeinsam besuchen sie die mysteriösen Watts Towers in South Central L.A. Die eisernen Türme waren vor Jahren als One-Man Kunst-Projekt erbaut wurden und sind heute vom Abriss bedroht. Im Brewery Arts Complex treffen sie auf das größte Künstlerkollektiv der Stadt, das sich im Lagerhaus einer ehemaligen Brauerei niedergelassen hat. Vom Dach des legendären Rosslyn Hotels offenbart sich dem Team ein atemberaubender Blick über Downtown L.A. Zuletzt erkunden sie in den Hügeln von Malibu ein unvollendetes Haus des amerikanischen Stararchitekten Frank Lloyd Wright, der schon das Guggenheim Museum erbaute.

In Tokyo haben die 3 Nippel schon laengst Kultstatus erreicht. Mit ihren aufwendigen Kostuemen und Buehnenperformances sind sie mit ihren Songs bei denen kein Tanzbein ungeschwungen bleibt von keinem guten Even mehr wegzudenken. Und nun kommen sie im Februar endlich mit 2 Gigs in Frankreich nach Europa.
So sass ich also mit einem der Herrn Nippel letztes Wochenende auf ein Bier in unserer Lieblingsbar in Shibuya und redeten ueber die anstehende Europa-Mini-Tour. Und weil man ja nicht nach Europa reisen kann ohne einen kleinen Abstecher nach Berlin zu machen werden die Jungs und Maedels im Februar auch dort sicherlich fuer Aufsehen sorgen. Nun liebe Berliner, falls ihr die Trippple Nippples dann auch in eurer Stadt mal live sehen moechtet, dann trommelt alles zusammen: Club, Bar, Garage, Freiluft, Kinderzimmer,... wo auch immer ihr was auf die Beine stellen koennt, die Nippples koennen es nicht erwarten auch Berlin aufzumischen.
Kurz gesagt: Wer auch immer den Trippple Nippples einen Gig in Berlin besorgen kann, bitte melden! Ihr werdet es nicht bereuen!

Vor dem Ausgang Tauentzienstraße des U-Bahnhofs Wittenbergplatz steht ein eisernes Schild. Durch die Anhäufung von grauem Schnee der es umgibt, sieht es so aus, also würde es nur noch von den Massen trüben Schlamm- und Eisgemischs am Straßenrand gehalten werden: weil Gehweg freischaufeln zum Eingang des Bahnhofs. Dann grob streuen weil Kurfürstendamm und deswegen viele Schuhe mit Klick-Klackabsätzen, die ausrutschen so einfach machen. Hier geht Qualität vor Quantität. Das Kaufhaus des Westens teilt etwas von seinem kahlen, violetten Licht mit diesem Schild, behält den Glanz seiner prunken, goldenen Weihnachtsbeleuchtung allerdings lieber für sich. Serifenlos steht auf dem Schild geschrieben: Orte des Schreckens, die wir niemals vergessen dürfen. Dann ein Absatz.

Blind beginnen die Passanten zu laufen. Flossenbürg. Ein kunstseidenes Mädchen in ihrem silbern glänzenden Feh überquert auf Fußspitzen tippelnd die Straße. Sachsenhausen. Der junge Mann lehnt noch immer am Pfosten und schaut ihr nach.

NYLON Chirstmas Party at MIDWEST Tokyo

Schon in der Vorweihnachtszeit reihte sich hier in Tokyo ein Weihnachtsevent an das naechste. Eines davon war die von Nylon Japan organisierte Weihnachtsparty, welche am 10. Dezember im Midwest Shop stattfand. Etwas abseits von dem Haupt Shoppingviertel und den Menschenmassen Shibuyas wurden von 6 bis 10 Uhr abends Getränke und Häppchen serviert, fröhlich in Vorweihnachtsstimmung geshoppt, zu den Beats von DJ Eiko, welche gerade auch ihre Debütsinge herausgebracht hat (siehe hier), getanzt, geplaudert und neue Kontakte geknüpft. Die Stimmung war unheimlich gut und wir hatten alle sehr viel Spass die tollen Klamotten anzuprobieren, welche es bei Midwest zu kaufen gab. Einer meiner Favoriten waren die Block Pumps von United Nude, die ich am Liebsten gar nicht mehr ausgezogen hätte.

Queen erhielt dieses Jahr den Preis für Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design und 2011 wird das New Yorker Metropolitan Museum of Art ihm zu Ehren eine Ausstellung eröffnen. Die Musik zu dem Kurzfilm stammt von Bjork und wurde exklusiv hierfür komponiert. Das Styling übernahm Edward Enninful, Stylist und Fashion Editor des ID-Magazins.

Die geplante Ausstellung lässt meinen Wunsch einmal nach New York zu gehen noch viel stärker werden!

And finally I have good news.
Last Wednesday the result of my enrance exam for Bunka Fashion College came by mail and it says: PASSED. Yeeha!
I am so happy and I actually can't believe that all the studying and worrying are over now and that I, until April, can now just completely enjoy Tokyo again. And that's basically what I'm doing. Hanging with friends and partying almost every day. And it's so much fun. Life is so much fun again!

Wow, I haven't been posting anything in quite a while! Sorry for being m.i.a. in such a long time, but I've been studying like crazy for my entrance exam for Bunka Fashion College, which was last Saturday and is f-i-n-a-l-l-y over now. Just that I now have to wait for the results, which is actually worse than waiting for the examination day.

But I guess I will slowly bur surely come back to life from now on, and also back to this blog! But as I just told you, I've been studying like a maniac, no hanging, no parties, no shopping: only study. Oh that was hell!!! With other words: just nothing worth showing here happened.

BIRTHDAY PARTY ETC..

One month ago i turned 22. And on the 11th of September, all my friends got together in my lifetime-friend Mari's Bar in Takadanobaba, Tokyo to have a little (yeah...we only had 5 chairs...but too many people!) birthday party.

It was one of the best nights since a long time: Heading to American Apparel's Fashion Night Out for a bit and then running to the train to be in time for my own party. For one night I could totally forget about all the stress I'm having right now with my application for Bunka and just enjoy being here in Tokyo with my lovely friends..even though the most important ones were missing.

The following pictures are from Tokyo School Night 2 weeks ago. The topic was "Jungle" and...my fav. was Trent being a Flintstone...meet the Flintstones Yabadabadoooooo!!!!

I finally managed to get my new computer, as my old one broke somewhen like 2 months ago. Despite the fact that I have no fucking clue how to use it, I'm pretty happy with it. And as soon as I will get used to working with OS instead of Windows, it's going to be cool.

Well, but as a whole summer won't fit into only one little blogpost, I will just update with some pictures I took, which I think show pretty much how amazing this summer was, when my mum was here, or my friend Tommy came to visit me.

I so need this video on my iPod (same reason as I had "You don't mess with the Zohan" a while back ago...enlightens every no-words-how-much-I-hate-them-train rides here in Tokyo.)

I had a nice weekend with my friends in Frankfurt instead of correcting my coursework. I was kind of devastated when I realized that I hadn't taken out my camera all night long but instead took this crappy picture with my mate Marina at 7am in the mornings after the blast was fucking over. However, my mac is still broken so I didn't even have the chance to fancy-iphotoshop this great peice of art right here so I looked for a program on my mom's computer and found one that can turn pictures into magic by making them noisy and b/w. I don't even know. FYI, these are my plans for the next month:

1. Finish the coursework (until this wednesday)

2. Meet my friend Antoine in Frankfurt (who's coming from Cologne, wed-thrus)

3. Go home to Berlin (take care of apartment, sa-??)

4. See Adrian in Paris (around the 15th)

Hey! I know it's been a while that I updated, but lately I'm just crazy busy with school and people who come to visit me here in Tokyo.
Speaking of, my friend Tommy (Check his Blog!)is here right now since already two weeks and he's going to stay another two. We're having a awesome time that we really needed, as we haven't seen each other since almost 9 months (!!!). It's sooo good to have him here!

A while back ago, I came across this Japanese brand called BLANK, actually just because of their amazing wallets, which my friend and me found at a very nice select shop, called Marios Left Tanker, while walking from Shibuya to Daikanyama. I absolutely fell for the white wolf print wallet, which I still can't get out of my head so far, and decided to make it mine someday..like really. Anyway, as we were just heading to the XX concert that day, I didn't really take a proper look at all the clothes , but that brand name was stuck in my mind ever since. So I just checked out their home page and I must say: That't one amazing brand!

「白から始まる・白の可能性」, starting from white. the possibillities of white, that's the concept the two sisters Miyoko and Kayoko Horiba chose for their brand. With a main focus on personal commodity items. Very fine things they're making there.

Last week my class went on a field trip to the Museum of Nature and Science in Ueno. It was a lot of fun! And here we go with a bunch of pictures me and my classmate took.

Seems like the rainy season has begun. It didn't stop raining since last night and even if I can't really say that I like the rain, the air smells so good. So despite my plans to stay at the school library today to study until I have to work in the evening, I went home for studying and finishing watching one of my favorite German movies called "Engel und Joe". I'm not sure if there's an English dubbed version, but I know there's one with subtitles.

I haven't watched it in ages, but when I was like 13 for me it was kind of the perfect love story. And now that I'm 21, I still think that way. I want to fall in love like those two in the movie...just with less heroin, being homeless and having a baby.

BIG BEACH 2010

Last Sunday we went to the Big Beach Festival at the seaside of Chiba, half an hour out of Tokyo.
I can't really say much about it, but it's one of those days that you want to go back to for the rest of your life. It was just the perfect day and I made up my mind about so many things that I wasn't so sure about all the time. From time to time I need to see the ocean to heal a little bit.
And of course the three hours Chemical Brothers set was soooo good!

The sea was just so beautiful. I really wanted to go swimming but there were securities everywhere and they would keep you from going into the water, ...which might be a kinda good thing I guess. Actually later in the evening there were two guys who just didn't give a shit and ran straight into the water...and back haha

That's one of my favorite ones. It just shows that day's atmosphere so well.

That one is most special to me. Somewhere between being super drunk and in a very melancholic state of mind, watching the sunset, I took this photo. I remember how I thought that from today there are no borders that will hold us back and I took a look behind me and I just saw everybody standing there laughing their ass off about one's silly dancing. And in this moment I just felt entirely content and as if my strengh came back a little bit.

Those Navy-Guys were fighting just next to us and I thought it was the most beautiful thing, I couldn't stop watching them.

Yes, it was such a perfect day. I'm glad I made those photos, they capured the whole atmosphere so well. We had a really good time and I'm so thankful to have all of them as my friends.

I got kind of sick of my digital SLR, that's why I didn't post anything lately. I just didn't feel like taking photos with it, it's big and heavy and the photos don't feel real to me lately. However, I started taking photos with my Holga and disposable cameras again and this weekend I developed some photos of this month.

The Holga photos, I put them here because I think Marlene will like them, as it was an old film from back in 2008, when we used to live together here in Tokyo. Don't know if you remember any of those photos, I could only remember the gun Simon brought that one night haha

It's golden week in Japan! One week of national holidays and the sun decided to be good to us, so every day really feels like on holidays! I don't feel like drying my hair in the morning, don't feel like using make up and I even started to wear bikini tops as underwear, always ready to jump into a pool haha

And for this mood I found the perfect shirt at American Apparel last weekend. The fit is just all I ever wanted from a shirt. Relaxed, easy and chic. Perfect for the summer!
I also bought new sunglasses: I love the colors and the tone of the lenses sooo much.

As I said in my last post, I changed my hairstyle: Even though I kind of liked the "no-hairstyle"-style, I really missed my bangs a lot. But I'm especially happy about the color because it's finally back at my natural hair color, which, as one very clever and pretty friend of mine said a while back ago, not matter what you do with your look, will always fit you the best. I think she's right!

friday @ the wesc store opening. I was wearing my dad's jeans jacket, a laced dress by MONKI, Zara shoes.

Heya, this weekend screamed: "Marlenetage!" because I will be turning 23 tomorrow (or as I call it 17 for the 6th time) and so my friends and I had a fun time hanging out in Berlin. The weather was alright although the forecast said it was gonna rain and so we especially enjoyed the bar 25 on saturday evening to celebrate my friend Sila's birthday as well.

Yep, I got my sweet little PC back which I had to send in to get it repaired. Sorry for the three weeks absence from blogging (or even checking e-mails).

So this morning I woke up, giving my skin a little peeling-face mask-soymilk cream-boost and sitting down with my coffee, a good tune and my old friend the internet. Long time long time mate.

So even though I didn't take any photos, even though I got a new hair cut and color last week (soooo different), but I'd like to share this with you:

I was browsing through the Sartorialist, who seems to have been visiting Tokyo lately and found these shots he took at Bunka Fashion College.
Right now I'm studying hard to be able to pass all the test to get into Bunka next year in April to study apparel design and as studying Japanese can be a real pain in the ass, I sometimes lose my motivation to sit down and write Kanjis over and over again. But every time I go to visit my friends at Bunka, or just go there to talk to the teachers or even if I only see, like in this case, pictures of it, I feel like all my motivation comes back and I think I totally can make it.

Springtime is really the most beautiful time in Japan. The blooming cherry blossoms are just breathtaking, every time I see them. And as you go to a park with your friends, lie down with the cherries above you, drinking and talking, life seems so easy suddenly. Everything seems so clear and you think you know exactly what you want.

There was even a turtle!!!

And Hiro came along for like 15 mins, and then back to work.

So what went wrong yesterday? Maybe the effect of cheap wine on confused hearts?

FOREVER KICKS

This is the last weekend of my spring break. The last week was just so intensive and fun. Almost every day we slept at my friend's house to work on T-shirts for the last Teenage Kicks. Making the design, deciding on a layout, choosing colors, mixing colors, printing: That all took us all night and by the time the shirts were finished it was already 11 am.

I know it's a bad picture, but I just love how the shirts turned out!

The last Teenage Kicks was incredibly good. Everybody just had so much fun and nobody wanted to stop the party, even when they turned off the music and switched on the lights at 6 am. Can't really say how GOOD last night was. I hope I'll get the photos soon.

I'm writing bullshit I know, but I have such a hangover now ahhh!

Yeah it was a very nice night. And well maybe one of our 11 readers might have asked himself, what kind of T-Shirts we were working on. Well, I'm not sure if there is even one reader of this Blog who lives in Tokyo, but if yes, please keep reading a little more:

My friends Party called Teenage Kicks will finish next Friday (04/02), and since it is a really great party with a long history in Tokyo nightlife (5 years), we are all very sad that it is going to end.
